Test scene for the upcoming tour documentary Skye and I. Unfortunately, work on Crossing Arizona (with Skye Sweetnam) is scheduled to begin production in six months, and they have HD!!!!!
Congrats to Skye on a Juno Nomination!
Not a whole lot to report this Skye Friday. Album has been pushed back to August 15...sigh. Barbie Diaries writers have been announced, and as far as I can google, the only notable one in the bunch is Christy Carlson Romano, of "Even Stevens"/"Kim Possible" fame -- her version of "Note to Self" seems pretty good! Much better than the streamed track. (Martin Briley co-wrote "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and in a former life was in the UK psych band Mandrake Paddle Steamer, and Kathy Sommer, who co-wrote "Girl Most Likely To," seems to come from Broadway vocal arranging/direction.) Still wondering which song had that Cars vibe -- process of elimination points to "Girl Most Likely To." For posterity's sake, here are the writers, courtesy Clouded Senses:
The song "Real Life" was written by Martin Briley/Dana Calitri/Russ DeSalvo and the song "Girl Most Likely To" was written by Dana Calitri/Nina Ossoff/Kathy Sommer
And sticking with that site, I also got a minor 15-minutes-of-fame extension (I think I'm at 15:04 now!) in this provocative essay by Marc Hogan at Pitchfork. The quoted piece was too sarcastic and I'm not totally proud of most of it (chalk it up to bad time/place vibes and -- shock -- not enough research), although it made me laugh at the time. I'm just glad to see Skye get some coverage on the site (my pipe dream tour diary, "Skye and I," remains unrealized). But Marc, ya still forgot about THE VERONICAS! The mind boggles at the expansive epistemological possibilities!
A couple of Pandora musings before I go: indie affirmative action continues with Rogue Wave (come on, this song is TOTALLY inappropriate on my playlist!) while meanwhile I discover that Anneliese Van Der Pol is in fact included in the database, but can't be added to my preferences. Um, also, what's with this hair metal block? Really, Ratt?
OK, enough outta me. Happy Skye Friday, all.
