Sun(dbla)day Post

1. What the fuck ever. Why am I still listening to this Arcade Fire album? What was I even expecting? I mean, JESUS this is depressing. Somber, somber, somber, ugly, ugly, ugly! Xgau nailed Funeral in the only useful sentence and a half in his capsule review of it: "he's retained a sense of the ridiculous, which is more than you can say of most young twits who sing about losing a grandparent (or whoever). And that's how the album goes--too fond of drama, but aware of its small place in the big world, and usually beautiful."

2. If anyone wants to save me from the depressing nap crap I've been stuffing into my eardrums lately, be so kind as to hook me up with the rest of the Linda Sundblad album and I'll hitcha back with...I dunno, PANDA BEAR. Ha ha ha. Thanks!

3. I wrote out this damn 2006 Brie Larson Literary Achievement Awards post twice already and both times it disappeared. So that's it, my mood is sour and the awards ceremony has been cancelled until further notice. Look, I'm just trying to link Mr. Kogan's Bob Dylan piece and a couple of things on Paris (Penman, Macpherson, Hoffman) and the "Self Portrait" essay by Marc Hogan I liked several months ago but haven't read since then. I submitted Skye Sweetnam's current MySpace profile to Da Capo (figured Brie's real time back and forth with her fans wouldn't qualify). As I was compiling it the first and especially the second time, I was a little disconcerted by the narrow range of my reading sources, basically just a couple of websites and the web versions of a few major print publications. And whatever anyone cares to link me to. OK enough of this temper tantrum, I'm gonna listen to Linda Sundblad again. (And if anyone at least has the "Rebel" song, that'd be fine.) [EDIT: never mind!]

4. More productive: link to (or at least mention) the best music writing of 2006 in the comment thread! OR, the worst music writing.
